I learned the hard way that you can be right, choose to do right and stand by what you know deep in your soul is right and still get punished for it.
Last year, I chose to walk away from an organization I truly loved working for- and if things were reversed, I would only hope that I never get to a higher position of authority at work and fail to take into account anyone’s views and misgivings about a decision without taking some time to think through things.

It’s waking up to the sunlight coming through my bedroom window.
To making my bed, taking a walk around the house to each room drawing curtains, cleaning where I can and settling down to breakfast later on.
This house is not mine, I pay rent at the end of every month to someone else, yet each moment I spend here feels like heaven.
For this is how I dream of my own space, it being a place of comfort and solace and secure, until then I strive to have a little bit of heaven right here.
The very first time someone asked me why I write, I shrugged my shoulders and said ‘I don’t know, I just do.’
I was thirteen then.
Truth is, writing is the only way I felt seen and heard, and free. So, whenever I could, I wrote letters to my Father told him about everything that he was missing out on and waited for a response…
Now, having kept at it and published 10 books, all I can say is that I write because I hear myself loud and clear when I do.
What I enjoy most about writing is that despite having done it for so long, I still fear that I may fall short every time I approach a blank page.
And in those times when the weight on my shoulders and the pain in my chest makes it unbearable for me to breathe, I look to the void, to the place where solace is abound.
And just like that, I know with every breath that I have that spirituality is important in this life that I lead.
It’s been a while since I shared any updates on life, what I’m reading and loving and it’s mostly because I have not settled down to doing so.
This May I’d love to do a couple of things, some that I have always spoken about and others that well…need my attention and some may seem fun but I wouldn’t know unless I tried.

Dark Horse by Katy Perry is stuck on my mind and the line, “So you wanna play with magic?” constantly replaying like it’s paid rent in my mind today.
I had an answer for this twelve years ago. The career, the relationship, the money, the places…and everything in between, including the places and time, but I got to learn about the curves in the road.
The experiences that shredded me to pieces, the memories I want to relive, the place I am now.
So, where do I see myself in 10 years…wherever I may be, my only desire is that I have no regrets.
One key thing is scheduling and re-scheduling, and always looking up time zones to set up zoom meetings, attend webinars and so forth.
Google Docs has made collaborating on proposals and working drafts easier.
I’m online more than I’d love to.
I throw a fit when there is a power outage- and yes, I remember the one time I bought a selfie ring light and stand that can be powered using a power bank because I couldn’t stand missing four meetings in a week.
No thanks, I love tattoos but only on other people.
